Love Gone Awry

I just came back from Fully Booked Power Plant and I bought the latest book from Ian McEwan, On Chesil Beach. It’s just a small book, and this has been on my list of to-do reads. It’s a story about two newly wed couple who embark on a honeymoon..and kapooww!

The first line reads..”They were young, educated, and both virgins on this, their wedding night, and they lived in a time when a conversation about sexual difficulties was plainly impossible.”

Something shocking was revealed on the honeymoon. I cannot talk more about the book coz I am just starting, but from the looks of it, this is a tragedy, to which Mc Ewan is known for.

Cannes do!

Cannes 2008 has just opened (May 14-25), and the Philippines’ entry “Serbis” is in competition for Palm d’Or–its highest prize.

There are great film lineups in the festival, and I must mention that I am excited to watch Blindness by Fernando Mereilles (The Constant Gardener, City of God), Changeling by Clint Eastwood (Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby), and Che by Steven Soderbergh (Erin Brokovich).
