Rihanna photo after the fight with Chris Brown

From TMZ.com
A photo of Rihanna, bruised and badly beaten, is circulating in the net. The photo above. This is in connection with the famous scandal weeks ago about her fight with Chris Brown, which led to her Grammys performance cancellation, and concert in Malaysia and Indonesia.
Curiousity kills the cat, er, boy.

I saw The Reader last week. I don’t have enough Holocaust-themed movie fix, so I lined up another movie in the same era. This time, the protagonist is a young boy.
The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas is a film by Marc Herman, based on the novel by John Boyne. It tells the story of Bruno, an 8 year old boy who befriends a kid of his age in a concentration camp near the house where they live. The friendship became tragic later. A small film with a big heart, and offers valuable lessons.
The princess looks good when she is bad.

I love Anne Hathaway when she smokes. When she curse. When she joins peer group. When she fuck someone in their house underground. When she is an addict. When she is housed in an asylum. When she hates her sister. When she hates her mother. When she lied. When she pretends. When she cries.
Yes, she did all that in Rachel Getting Married. And she was noticed for her acting prowess by the Academy when she was nominated this year for Actress in a Leading Role.
Florence Nightingale welcomes you.
My younger brother is now a certified nurse after he pass the licensure exam given last year (2008). That’s his name below. My heartfelt congratulations!

Pinoy Connection in LOST Season 5

In the third episode of LOST Season 5, there was a scene with Pinoy connection. Desmond and his wife are in the Philippine soil, well, Philippine water to be exact. Their yacht, at least. At first, I thought, maybe they are in Southeast Asia because there are presence of tropical fruits, beach, palm trees, and gambling. Until I overheard two girls running blurting out the words “Laro tayo!”. And then Edmond shouts for “Efren Salonga!, Efren Salonga!” who is the village doctor. Desmond’s wife is about to gave birth. But what tops it all is the word Mabuhay and the Philippine flag in a veranda. Refer to the screen shot above.

If I remember, in Season 4 of LOST, the island is somewhere in the Indian Ocean near Indonesia. I remember it because the rescued group (Kate, Sun, Hugo, Sayeed, etc) were awashed in an Indonesian shore.
I know that LOST is filmed on location in Hawaii. And maybe, just maybe, the huge Pinoy community in the island state makes it easy for the producers to gather as much extra as possible to create a small Pinoy community for the episode.
Meanwhile, I am enjoying this current season. But it might turn off new audience who haven’t watch the four previous episodes, because this season vacillates from the future and the past, which introduces old characters from previous episodes.
The interconnection of relationships between characters demands good interplay and imagination. But based from the episodes I have seen so far, the writers has been successful in handling the interrelationships.
Now, I am excited how Kate and her group will return to the Island.
Gather the basterds
One of my most anticipated movie this year is Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglorious Basterds” with Brad Pitt in the lead role. The trailer below:
The Fuehrer is furious for putschists.

Dissidents. Coup plotters. Putschists. Iconoclasts.
Whatever you call it, it will cost you your life if you are guilty of the same in Germany during the Fuehrer’s regime. I never thought The Valkyrie will make a good movie because we all know that Hitler was not assasinated. But it was not bad at all. Maybe because Tom Cruise, and the entire film, is surrounded by topnotch casts including Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, and Christian Berkel.
Next time, though, when you want to kill a VVIP like Adolf Hitler, follow the Japanese formula. Kill him in the flesh while you go on a suicide. Otherwise, when you just leave a leather bag below the table and leave the place immediately before detonating the damn bomb, the probability of the success of your plan will not be 100%. You think you had him but not really. He was alive; and it cost you your life. What difference does it make when you could have just shoot him point blank and face death eventually. At least, you reach your objective.
From Billy to Tintin

His name is Jamie Bell. He was your ballerina in Billy Elliot (directed by Stephen Daldry, who also directed this year’s The Reader). Now, he will play the voice of Tintin in Steven Spielberg’s movie The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn. The movie will be released in 2011. Tintin is the main character in the famous European comic strip The Adventures of Tintin by the Belgian artist, Herge.
